AOC Explodes Over House Honoring Charlie Kirk and ABC Canceling Kimmel

In a fiery response to the recent developments in Washington, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is lashing out at both the House of Representatives and ABC News, calling the moves to honor slain conservative leader Charlie Kirk and suspend Jimmy Kimmel “a disgusting attack on the American people.”

As reported by Eric Garcia at Independent.co.uk, the House passed a resolution Friday honoring Charlie Kirk’s legacy following his assassination on a Utah college campus. The vote passed 310 to 58, with 95 Democrats joining Republicans in support. The measure praises Kirk as a bold voice for conservative values and respectful debate across college campuses and media platforms.

The resolution also condemned the shooting, applauded law enforcement’s response, and urged Americans to uphold the core values of unity and civil discourse. Even top House Democrats like Hakeem Jeffries and Katherine Clark backed the bill. But far-left lawmakers like AOC and members of the Congressional Black and Hispanic Caucuses were not having it.

AOC unleashed a tirade against Kirk’s past statements, claiming his rhetoric harmed marginalized groups. She then shifted her outrage to ABC, who indefinitely suspended Jimmy Kimmel following inflammatory remarks made on air after Kirk’s death. According to AOC, the move signals an effort by conservatives to crack down on free speech — despite the fact that many viewed Kimmel’s remarks as wildly inappropriate in the wake of a political assassination.

FCC Chairman Brendan Carr has hinted that even The View might come under scrutiny for potential broadcast violations — raising questions about whether legacy media platforms are finally facing accountability for their years of bias.

Rep. Yvette Clarke also voiced opposition, claiming Kirk’s statements on race and identity politics were offensive. Others accused him of promoting misinformation and brushing off the real toll of violence in the country.

This battle is part of a larger war brewing in the House. Just days earlier, tensions boiled over during a moment of silence for Kirk, with Republican leaders directly blaming Democrats for the dangerous climate that led to his murder. A separate GOP resolution to remove Rep. Ilhan Omar from committees for her comments on Kirk was defeated after four Republicans sided with Democrats.

As the House adjourns for the Jewish high holidays and some members prepare to attend Kirk’s funeral in Arizona, one thing is clear — the political lines have never been more drawn. Charlie Kirk’s voice may be silenced, but his legacy continues to shake the halls of Congress and expose where each side truly stands.
