Hillary Clinton, the twice-failed presidential candidate, made some eyebrow-raising comments during her appearance on CNN this past Saturday, once again proving why many Americans are skeptical of her.
Clinton, no stranger to advocating for more government control, took the opportunity to push for stricter regulations on social media, revealing her belief that censorship is necessary to maintain control over what people say online. In typical Clinton fashion, she suggested that internet platforms should be held responsible for the content users post, calling for the repeal of Section 230—an important legal provision that protects online platforms from being sued for what their users say.
“We should be in view repealing something called Section 230 which gave platforms on the internet immunity because they were thought to be just pass-throughs that they shouldn’t be judged for the content that is posted. But we now know that is an overly simple view that if the platforms, whether it is Facebook or Twitter/X or Instagram or TikTok or whatever they are, if they don’t moderate and monitor the content, we lose total control,” Clinton said.
Translation? Clinton wants more censorship, more control, and less freedom for people to express their views online—unless, of course, they’re views she agrees with.
As if that weren’t enough, Clinton went on to advocate for removing phones from schools, a stance that reeks of more top-down interference. Apparently, she thinks we’ve “experimented” enough with our kids having access to technology in schools, and now it’s time to take those devices away.
“We’ve conducted a big experiment on ourselves and particularly our kids, and I think the evidence is in,” she said. “We’ve got to do more, take phones out of schools. I’m so happy to see schools beginning to do that where kids turn their phone in when they walk in the door.”
Of course, Clinton is “happy” to see more control exerted over students, just as she’s always been happy to push for more control over Americans in general.
But perhaps the most disturbing part of her recent crusade is her suggestion that Americans should face jail time for posting what she considers “misinformation.” Clinton has long harped on Russian interference in the 2016 election, but now she’s taking it a step further, implying that certain U.S. citizens—those she accuses of spreading propaganda—should be criminally or civilly charged.
“There were Russians engaged in direct election interference and boosting Trump back in 2016, but I also think there are Americans who are engaged in this kind of propaganda and whether they should be civilly or criminally charged would be something that would be a better deterrent,” Clinton said.
In other words, Hillary Clinton wants to criminalize free speech if it doesn’t align with her views or if it threatens her political interests. This isn’t surprising coming from someone who has repeatedly tried—and failed—to convince the American people that she’s trustworthy. Once again, Clinton shows her true colors, advocating for a system where censorship and punishment are the answer to political disagreements.
Her latest comments are a chilling reminder of her long-standing desire for more government overreach, more censorship, and less freedom for everyday Americans. Whether it’s stripping away protections from internet platforms or suggesting jail time for those who challenge her narrative, Hillary Clinton’s obsession with control is alive and well.
